Distance and time
If you’re looking for a quick 3-4 day vacation and you’re on the East Coast, a flight to the Caribbean might only be a few hours away. However, reaching Hawaii takes a bit more effort– even for those located on the West Coast. If you want to get the most out of your trip to the Aloha State, you’ll need a minimum of 4-5 days set aside.
Season
June through November is the Caribbean’s hurricane season, so if your travel plans fall between these months, Hawaii will be a much better option. You might also want to head to Hawaii during the peak Spring Break season (March and April) as the Caribbean tends to get more crowded during this period. While Hawaii’s high season is during winter, the Caribbean is typically much quieter and less busy.

While both Hawaii and the Caribbean have beautiful beaches, the Caribbean has more shores that are better suited for casual visitors looking to relax. With plenty of shallow waters, gentle waves, and of course powder-white sand, the Caribbean offers many beaches perfect for sunbathing or snorkeling.
The Caribbean is also the premier destination for history fans with its abundance of Spanish-inspired architecture and former military fortresses. The Caribbean is home to many colonial cities where you can find beautiful cobblestone streets and old landmarks from the 17th and 18th centuries.
