Ready to make your vacation dreams a reality?
When you’re heading to an all-inclusive resort, the last thing you want is to be digging through overpriced gift shop shelves for something you forgot to pack. I’ve seen it too many times. Couples arrive excited, and then end up spending their first day looking for aloe or borrowing a charger.
The good news? A little prep goes a long way. Here’s what I always tell my clients to pack for their all-inclusive vacation so you can feel relaxed and ready from day one.
1. What to Pack: An Insulated Tumbler
Resorts usually serve drinks in small plastic cups that start to warm up before you’re halfway done. A tumbler you can refill keeps your drinks cold longer, and it means fewer trips to the bar when you’re mid-lounge.
2. At Least Two Swimsuits
You’ll basically live in your swimsuit, and no one enjoys putting on a wet one first thing in the morning. Rotate them so one is always dry. If you plan to be in and out of the pool multiple times a day, three isn’t overdoing it.
3. A Comfortable Cover-Up
Something easy to throw on for lunch, walking through the resort, or just lounging by the pool when you want a little more sun protection. You’ll wear it more than you think.
4. Pack A Few All-Inclusive “Resort Casual” Outfits
Even at relaxed resorts, most restaurants have a dress code in the evenings. You don’t need to go formal, but sundresses, linen pants, or a nicer shirt will come in handy when it’s time for dinner and drinks.
5. Reef-Safe Sunscreen and Bug Spray
You can absolutely buy these at the resort—but they’ll be expensive and the selection may be limited. Reef-safe sunscreen is especially important in beach destinations where protecting the ocean is a priority. And if you’re going somewhere tropical, bug spray can be a lifesaver in the evenings.
6. A Lightweight Beach Tote or Day Bag
You’ll want something to carry your sunscreen, book, sunglasses, tumbler, and whatever else you’ll want with you by the pool or beach. Bonus if it’s foldable and easy to pack.
7. A Waterproof Phone Case
Whether you’re lounging in the pool or out on a boat, this protects your phone while still letting you snap those vacation photos.
8. Portable Phone Charger
Between taking photos, using the resort app, and checking travel details, your phone battery might not last the day. A small charger in your beach bag can save the day.
9. Comfortable Sandals That Can Get Wet
Pack a pair that’s comfortable enough to walk in and can handle a little water—especially if you’re planning any excursions.
10. Plenty of Tip Money
Even if gratuities are included in your package, we always recommend tipping generously. Bring lots of singles for bartenders, servers, and housekeeping, and have a few larger bills for anyone who goes above and beyond. It’s one of the best ways to make someone’s day and often gets you a few extra smiles along the way.
11. A Few Carry-On Essentials
Keep your passport, medications, and travel documents with you—not in your checked bag. I also recommend packing a swimsuit and change of clothes in your carry-on. If your room isn’t ready when you arrive, you’ll still be able to start enjoying the resort right away.
You don’t need to overpack, but you do want to pack smart. These simple items can make your entire trip feel more relaxed and enjoyable.
And when you travel with us, I’ll always give you personalized packing tips based on your exact destination, travel style, and the time of year you’re going. You’re never left guessing.
